Notice the readings duck the question.
It is mystery, so what is a mystery?
Remind us there are limits to our knowledge. (Example: electricity)
Our temptation: to be omniscient like God
Fr. Lopez sign in his classroom: There is a God and You Are Not Him
It is a gift to us
Dwell in his majesty, his authority, his love
Explained as a communion of love
Loving Father Loves the Loving Son who Loves the Loving Father and their Love is the Holy Spirit
Key word is Communion
Communion is not Community
Community is coming together but remaining independent
That’s us: St. Paul to Corinthians – “live in peace.”
Communion is greater, and a mystery
How do I become one with God yet not lose my identity?
He made me to be one with Him, made us in His image
I receive Him in Holy Communion — What about the rest of the time?
St. Paul to the Romans: a slave to Christ
I must try to abandon myself to His love
Die to self as He died on the Cross
At Mass: receive his divinity into my body — that’s a Holy Communion
After Mass: sent to share the grace I received
Mystically share the Love of the Trinity to a world that has forgotten the Gospel
