Monsignor James Shea
Monsignor Shea is the president of the University of Mary, in Bismarck, ND, and he is the driving force behind the two books that constitute the text for this series on Sunday mornings that will take us to the end of the calendar year.
Monsignor Shea was ordained in 2002, and he is about 50 years old. Monsignor Shea has served as the sixth president of the university since 2009. He is a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Bismarck, North Dakota.
He recently gave a powerful talk at SEEK 2024, the annual gathering of the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) in St. Louis, MO. 20,000 college students listened to him talk about them and the fundamental struggle they face. They are not the only ones that face this challenge, and so I think we should take time today to hear that talk.
Another talk he gave at SEEK 2024 was called, “Can We Have a Utopian Church?”
Two books issued by his University press will serve as the primary sources for this series. You might consider purchasing them for yourselves.
The first is called “From Christendom to Apostolic Mission”

The second is called “The Religion of the Day”
